Introduction to Selank

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide version of the naturally occurring tetrapeptide Tuftsin. It was developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and has been studied for its potential anxiolytic and neuroprotective properties.

Mechanism of Action

Research suggests that Selank works by modulating the expression of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and influencing the balance of T-helper cells. It also affects the concentration of monoamine neurotransmitters and the metabolism of serotonin.

Research Findings

Laboratory studies have explored its effects on anxiety-related behaviors, cognitive function enhancement, and its role as a potential immunomodulator. Unlike traditional medications, it does not appear to exhibit sedating or addictive properties in research models.
